アルジェリアが原産です。わが国へは昭和時代の中頃に渡来しました。高さは１５〜２０センチほどになり、マット状に広がります。葉はへら形で軟らかく多肉質です。４月から５月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして、鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。秋に播種しますが、冬越しには霜よけが必要です。ふつうには「ムルチカウレ」と呼ばれます。

Chrysanthemum multicaule belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a winter annual herb that is native to Algeria. It was introduced into Japan in the middle days of Showa Era (about 40 years ago). This herb spreads to matlike, and can reach 15-20 cm in height. The leaves are spatulate, soft and carnose. The flowering stalks are borne and the bright yellow flowers bloom from April to May. It sows in fall, and has need to protect from the frost.
