マレー群島が原産です。現在では広く植栽され、南アメリカや西インド諸島、アメリカ南部では帰化しています。茎は中空で、高さは１．８〜２．７メートルになります。葉は楕円形で葉柄は短く、４輪生します。茎の先の花序に、雪のように白い長さ１０センチほどの筒状花を咲かせます。果実は核果で、濃いメタリックブルーをしています。 |

クマツヅラ科クサギ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Clerodendrum indicum。英名は Turk's turban、Tubeflower、Skyrocket。 |

The Turk's turba (Clerodendrum indicum) belongs to Verbenaceae (the Verbena family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to the Malay Archipelago. It is now widely planted and naturalized in South America, the West Indies, and the southern United States. It has hollow stems and grows 1.8 to 2.7 m tall. The leaves are elliptic, with short petioles and arranged in four whorled. The snow-white tubular flowers, about 10 cm long, are produced in an inflorescence at the end of the stem. The fruit is a kernel with a dark metallic blue color. |
