The Kopsia flavida belongs to Apocynaceae (the Dogbane family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is native to the Philippines, Maluku, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Micronesia. This tree grows in tropical rain forests and can reach 9-15 m in height. The bark is brown or gray and smooth. The leaves are opposite, oblong with wavy edges. The white flowers bloom in the dichasial inflorescence. The fruit is oblong drupe, about 2.5 cm long, resembling an olive. Initially green, it turns glossy blue-black when ripe.
