わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。湿地や水辺、河岸などに生え、地下茎を伸ばして群生します。高さは１〜１．８メートルになり、葉は線形でざらつきます。５月から６月ごろ、穂状の円錐花序をだし、緑白色の小穂を多数つけます。 |

イネ科クサヨシ属の多年草で、学名は Phalaris arundinacea。英名は Reed canarygrass。 |

The Reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a pernnial herb that is distributed throughout Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. It grows in wetlands, waterside areas, and riverbanks, and grows in clusters with underground stems that grow 1 to 1.8 m tall. From May to June, it produces spikelets in spikelets and many greenish-white spikelets. It is called "鷸草" in Taiwanese and "鷸草" (ge cao) in Chinese. |
