メキシコが原産です。高さ９センチ、直径１０センチほどのボール型で、白い毛に被われています。マミラリアとは、「いぼ（疣）」があるという意味で、「いぼさぼてん（疣サボテン）」とも呼ばれます。早春に小さな濃いピンク色の花を咲かせます。園芸上は「たまおきな（玉翁）」と呼ばれます。

The old lady cactus (Mammillaria hahniana) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen succulent perennial that is native to Mexico. This cactus is ball-shaped, 9 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter, covered with white hairs. The small deep pink flowers come in early spring. The name Mammillaria comes from the latin word mamma (mamilla), referring to the tubercules covering the body.
