南アフリカが原産です。「ひるむしろ（蛭蓆）」に似た細長い葉が水面に浮かびます。秋から春にかけて、芳香のある白い花を咲かせます。別名で「ケープひるむしろ（ケープ蛭蓆）」とも呼ばれます。 |

レースソウ科レースソウ属の多年草で、学名は Aponogeton distachyus。英名は Water hawthorn、Cape pondweed。 |

The water hawthorn (Aponogeton distachyus) belongs to Aponogetonaceae (Cape-pondweed family). It is a perennial herb that is native to South Africa. The elongated leaves that resemble "pondweed" float on the surface of the water. The fragrant white flowers come from fall to spring. It is also known as "cape pondweed". |
