わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。山地の渓流や中流域の流れの速いところに生え、高さは２〜３メートルになります。葉は楕円形で、若葉のころには絹毛があります。雌雄異株です。早春のころ、葉の展開に先立って尾状の花序をつけます。雄花序は葯の紅色が目立ち、雌花序は絹毛でふさふさしています。中国語では「細柱柳（xi zhu liu）」と呼ばれます。 |

ヤナギ科ヤナギ属の落葉低木で、学名は Salix gracilistyla。英名は Rosegold pussy willow。 |

The Rosegold pussy willow (Salix gracilistyla) belongs to Salicaceae (the Willow family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native to various pats of Japan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This tree grows in montane stream banks or middle watersheds where have a rapid current and can reach 2-3 m in height. The leaves are elliptic and covered with silky hairs when young. It is dioecious. The catkins are borne in early spring before foliation. The male clusters have visible rose-pink anthers and female clusters are covered with luxuriant silky hairs. In Chinese, it is called "細柱柳" (xi zhu liu). |
