The Rosegold pussy willow (Salix gracilistyla) belongs to Salicaceae (the Willow family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native to various pats of Japan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This tree grows in montane stream banks or middle watersheds where have a rapid current and can reach 2-3 m in height. The leaves are elliptic and covered with silky hairs when young. It is dioecious. The catkins are borne in early spring before foliation. The male clusters have visible rose-pink anthers and female clusters are covered with luxuriant silky hairs. In Chinese, it is called "細柱柳" (xi zhu liu).
