わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国、ロシアに分布しています。山野や林縁に生え、他の樹木などに絡みついて伸びます。葉は卵形で互生し、３〜５中裂します。６月から８月ごろ、葉の対生の位置に集散花序をだし、小さな淡緑色の花を咲かせます。果実は球形の液果で、９月から１０月ごろ、緑色から白色、紫色、青色と変化しながら熟します。ほとんどの果実には「ブドウタマバエ」や「ブドウガリバチ」の幼虫が寄生していて、食用にはなりません。中国語では「異葉蛇葡萄（yi ye she pu tao）」と呼ばれます。 |

The Porcelain berry (Ampelopsis brevipedunculata var. heterophylla) belongs to Vitaceae (the Grape family). It is a deciduous shrub that is distributed throughout Japan, the Korean Peninsula, China, and Russia. This shrub grows in fields, mountains and forest edges, and it climbs up adjacent trees. The leaves are ovate, alternate and divided into 3-5 intermediate lobes. The cymes are borne on the opposite side of leaves and produce small pale green flowers. The fruits are round berries and ripen in September to October. The fruits change their colors from green to white, purple, blue. Most of the berries are infested with the larvae of the "certain types of gall midge" or "certain types of bee" and are inedible. In Chinese, it is called "異葉蛇葡萄" (yi ye she pu tao). |
