わが国の本州から四国、九州それに南西諸島や朝鮮半島に分布しています。やや湿った野原や川岸に生えます。６月から９月ごろ、葉のあいだから太い花茎を伸ばし、橙赤色のラッパ状の花を咲かせます。花の色には変化が多く、赤みの強いものは、とくに「べにかんぞう」と呼ばれます。一日花で、昼間だけ咲いています。若葉は食用になります。おなじ仲間の「やぶかんぞう（藪萱草）」は八重咲きです。 |

ユリ科ワスレグサ科の多年草で、学名は Hemerocallis fulva var. longituba (syn. Hemerocallis fulva var. disticha)。英名は No-kanzo。 |

The "No-kanzo" (Hemerocallis fulva var. longituba) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu and the Nansei Islands in Japan as well as the Korean Peninsula. This herb grows in wettish fields or streambanks. The thick flowering stalk it borne and blooms orenge-red trumpet-shaped flowers from June to September. The flowers last one day. |
