南アフリカが原産です。高さは１．２〜１．８メートルほどになり、丸い樹冠を形成します。葉は長楕円形で、上部に鋸歯があります。冬の終わりから夏にかけて、球形の花序をだし、黄色やオレンジ色をした細い筒状の花被が伸びる花を咲かせます。このかたちから「ピンクッション（針刺し）」とも呼ばれます。写真上は園芸品種の「ゴールディ（cv. Goldie）」。

ヤマモガシ科レウコスペルムム属の常緑小低木で、学名は Leucospermum cordifolium。英名は Pincushion。

The pincushion (Leucospermum cordifolium) belongs to the family Proteaceae. It is an evergreen shrub that is native to South Africa. The height is about 1.2 to 1.8 meters and forms a round canopy. The leaves are oblong and have serrations on the upper part. From late winter to summer, spherical inflorescences are borne and bloom the flowers with yellow or orange slender tubular perianths. The 1st photo is the cultivar 'Goldie'.
