The Cluster rose (Rosa pisocarpa) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native to western North America, from British Columbia to California. This tree grows in moist or shady areas at forest edges and can reach about 2.5 m in height. The stems are generally black with few prickles. The leaves are odd-pinnate compound with 5-7 obovate-elliptic leaflets. The pink flowers come in the terminal clusters from June to August. The fruits are round with elongate sepal-tips and ripen in red. They are used to make jams, jellies and fruity-flavoured teas.
