サイドオーツグラーマ [Index] [Back] 北アメリカ、中央アメリカそれに南アメリカ、カナダからアルゼンチンに自生しています。山地の高原や岩の斜面、砂地の大草原などに生え、高さは３０〜１００センチになります。葉は狭くて青みがかった灰色で、桿の基部に集中して生えます。葉は秋に黄褐色に黄葉します。紫色かがった花の穂状花序が、葉の上の曲がった茎に、初夏から盛夏にかけて見られます。花序は種子が成熟すると、褐色に褪せます。  イネ科ボウテロウア属の多年草で、学名は Bouteloua curtipendula。英名は Sideoats grama。  The sideoats grama (Bouteloua curtipendula) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a perennial herb that is native to North America, Central America and South America, from Canada south to Argentina. This herb grows in mountainous plateaus, rocky slopes, and sandy plains, and up to a height of 30-100 cm. The leaves are narrow, bluish-gray, and concentrated at the bottom of the culm. They turns golden brown in fall. The spikes of purplish-tinged flowers appear on arching stems above the foliage in early to mid summer.
