"Shinano-tanpop" (Taraxacum platycarpum ssp. hondoense) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Nagano and Yamanashi prefectures of Honshu in Japan. It is positioned as a subspecies of "Kanto-tanpopo". The yellow flower heads bloom from March to May, but the involucre are large and plump. In addition, the outer involucral segments are ovate and wide, and are characterized by the absence of cornu.
