すじぎぼうし (筋擬宝珠) [Index] [Back] わが国で江戸時代に品種改良された歴史を持つ「ぎぼうし」です。葉は緑色で、縁は波打ち、美しい白色の中斑が入ります。初夏から盛夏にかけて、花茎の先に薄紫色の花を咲かせます。 ユリ科ギボウシ属の多年草で、学名は Hosta undulata (syn. Hosta cv. Undulata)。英名は Wavy plantain lily、Variegated wavy plantain lily。 The Wavy plantain lily (Hosta undulata) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is "Giboushi" (plantain lily), a plant with a history of selective breeding in Japan dating back to the Edo period (1603-1868). Its leaves are green with wavy edges and feature beautiful white variegation.
