メキシコ中部のサンルイスポトシ州からケレタロ州に分布しています。「まつ」や「オーク」の林内に生え、高さは90センチほどになります。茎は半分くらい地中に埋まり、長い葉軸をもつ羽状複葉がでます。小葉は洋紙質の披針形で、5〜9対がつきます。小さな球花は長さ10センチほどです。和名では「うすばザミア(薄葉ザミア)」と呼ばれます。 
ソテツ科ザミア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Zamia fischeri。英名はありません。 
The Zamia fischeri belongs to Cycadaceae (the Cycad family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed to central Mexico, from San Luis Potosi state to Queretaro state. This shrub grows in pine forests and oak forests, and up to a height of about 90 cm. The stems are buried about half in the ground. The leaves are pinnate compound with long rachis and 5-9 pairs of papery lanceolate leaflets. It pruduces small spherical flowers about 10 cm long.
