ニューギニアからフィリピン、それに太平洋諸島に分布しています。海岸近くの雨林に生え、樹木の幹などに着生しています。茎にはリブがあり、２〜４個の大きな葉をつけます。春から夏の終わりまで、花茎を伸ばして、総状花序に淡い黄緑色の花を咲かせます。花には赤紫色の斑や筋があり、繊細な芳香があります。

The Large-leafed dendrobium (Dendrobium macrophyllum) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from New Guinea to the Philippines and the Pacific Islands. It grows in rainforests near the coast and grows on tree trunks. The stem has ribs and bears 2-4 large leaves. From spring to the end of summer, the flower stalks grow and the racemes bloom pale yellow-green flowers. The flowers have purplish red spots and streaks and a delicate aroma.
