オーストラリアのビクトリア州やタスマニア島に分布しています。茎は直立して、高さは５０〜１００センチほどになります。葉は線形で、叢生します。５月から７月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして、小さなライトブルーの星形の花を咲かせ、花後には紫青色の果実をつけます。写真は、白色の斑が入る園芸品種の「バリエガタ（cv. Variegata）」。

ユリ科キキョウラン属の常緑多年草で、学名は Dianella tasmanica。英名は Flax lily。

The Flax lily (Dianella tasmanica) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed in Victoria and Tasmania, Australia. The stem is upright and can reach a height of 50-100 cm. The leaves are linear and crowding. From May to July, the flower stalks are extended to bloom small light blue star-shaped flowers, followed by purple-blue fruits. The photo is a cultivar 'Variegata' with white variegation.
