わが国の本州中部、南アルプスの南部にある光岳（てかりだけ）が原産です。亜高山帯に生え、「きりんそう（麒麟草）」の地域変異種とされます。「きりんそう」より小型で、高さは１０センチほどになり、茎が直立または斜上します。葉は厚く、葉の縁が赤みを帯びます。夏に黄色い花を咲かせます。

ベンケイソウ科マンネングサ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Sedum aizoon var. floribundum。英名はありません。

"Tekaridake-kirin-so" (Sedum aizoon var. floribundum) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to Mt. Tekari in the southern part of the Southern Alps in the central part of Honshu in Japan. It grows in the subalpine zone and is considered to be a regional variant of "Kirin-so". It is smaller than "Kirin-so", has a height of about 10 cm, and has an upright or slanted stem. The leaves are thick and the edges of the leaves are reddish. The yellow flowers come in summer.
