The Passion flower (Passiflora caerulea) belongs to Passifloraceae (the Passion flower family). It is an evergreen woody vine that is native to central-western South America, from Brazil to Peru. The common name is derived that the shape of the flowers conjure up the image of the Passion of Jesus. The flower about 10 cm in diameter blooms from July to August. It is complex with the five sepals and petals similar in appearance. The filaceous coronas are conspicuous.
