"Touge-buki" (Ligularia hodgsonii) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Hokkaido to the Tohoku region of Honshu in Japan, as well as the Kuril Islands and Sakhalin. This herb grows from the mountains to subalpine grasslands and is 50-80 cm in height. The leaves are reniform, with heart-shaped base and irregular blunt serrated edges. Around 5 to 9 yellow flower heads come on the shoot apices from July to August. The flower head is 4-5 cm in diameter and has 7-12 ray flowers. The fruits are capsules with a length of 6-7 mm.
