わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国、サハリンそれにシベリアなどに分布しています。山野の草地や林縁に生える、つる植物です。「くさふじ（草藤）」に似ていますが、小葉が１０〜１６個と少ないです。また、托葉が耳状に大きいのが特徴です。８月から１０月ごろ、葉腋から長い総状花序をだし、紅紫色の蝶形花を咲かせます。

マメ科ソラマメ属の多年草で、学名は Vicia amoena。英名はありません。

"Tsuru-fuji-bakama" (Vicia amoena) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed throughout Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula, China, Sakhalin and Siberia. This herb is a trailing vine and grows in grasslands and forest-edges of hills and fields. It resembles to Tufted vetch (Vicia cracca), though it has lesser 10-16 leaflets. It is defined by large eared stipulars. The long racemes are borne at the axils and the magenta papilionacenous flowers bloom from August to October.
