トルコから中央アジアに分布しています。矮性で、高さは１５〜３０センチほどになります。花被片は白色から淡黄色それに朱赤色などがあり、基部は黄色です。３月から４月上旬に咲きます。写真は、おそらく園芸品種の「ハーツデライト（cv. Heart's Delight）」。

The Water-lily tulip (Tulipa kaufmanniana) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Turkey to Central Asia. It is dwarf and can reach a height of 15 to 30 cm. The tepals range from white to pale yellow to vermilion, and the base is yellow. It blooms from March to early April. The photos are probably the cultivar 'Heart's Delight'.
