	ユーカリ属は、オーストラリアの東南部とタスマニア島におもに分布しています。４００～５００種ほどが知られています。高さは１５～５５メートルにもなります。葉は卵状楕円形から披針形や線形までと大きな変異があります。コアラの食べる葉として知られていますが、ユーカリ属のなかでも１２種しか食べないそうです。アメリカのカリフォルニア州では、ゴールドラッシュの時代から成長の早い「ユーカリ」の植林が盛んに行われるようになりました。
	フトモモ科ユーカリ属の常緑高木で、学名は Eucalyptus sp.。英名は Eucalyptus tree、Eucalypt。
	The Eucalyptus tree (Eucalyptus sp.) belongs to Myrtaceae (the Myrtle family). They are tall evergreen trees that are native to southeastern Australia and the Tasmania. The genus has 400-500 species. They can reach 15-55 m in height. The leaves are ovate-elliptic to lanceolate, linear and have many variety in their shapes. This genus is known as Koala's favorite, though Koala can eat only 12 species of Eucalyptus. Eucalyptus tree has been planting widely from the days of Gold Rush in California.
