やえやまらせいたそう (八重山羅世板草) [Index] [Back] わが国の八重山諸島、石垣島と西表島、与那国島の固有種です。日当たりの良い海岸に生え、高さは３０〜７０センチになります。葉は卵円形で、縁には鋸歯があり、対生します。裏面には粗毛が多く見られます。３月から５月ごろ、茎頂に３〜１０センチ雌花序をつけ、茎上部の葉腋に１０〜２０センチの雄花序をつけます。花は緑色の小花で、密集して咲きます。  イラクサ科カラムシ属の多年草で、学名は Boehmeria yaeyamensis。英名はありません。  "Yaeyama-raseita-so" (Boehmeria yaeyamensis) belongs to Urticaceae (the Nettle family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to the Yaeyama Islands, Ishigaki Island, Iriomote Island, and Yonaguni Island in Japan. It grows on sunny shores and is 30-70 cm tall. The leaves are ovate-round with serrated edges, dense rough hairs undersides and grow in pairs. From March to May, it produces 3 to 10 cm female inflorescences at the top of the stem and 1 to 20 cm male inflorescences in the leaf axils at the top of the stem.
