やえやまらせいたそう (八重山羅世板草) [Index] [Back] わが国の八重山諸島、石垣島と西表島、与那国島の固有種です。日当たりの良い海岸に生え、高さは３０〜７０センチになります。葉は卵円形で、縁には鋸歯があり、対生します。裏面には粗毛が多く見られます。雌雄異株です。３月から５月ごろ、雌株は茎頂付近の葉腋に長さ３〜１０センチの円錐花序をつけ、雄株はやや下側の葉腋に１０〜２０センチの雄花序をつけます。花は緑色の小花で、密集して咲きます。環境省のレッドブックでは、準絶滅危惧種（NT）に分類されています。 イラクサ科カラムシ属の多年草で、学名は Boehmeria yaeyamensis。英名はありません。 The "Yaeyama-raseita-so" (Boehmeria yaeyamensis) belongs to Urticaceae (the Nettle family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to the Yaeyama Islands, Ishigaki Island, Iriomote Island, and Yonaguni Island in Japan. It grows on sunny shores and is 30-70 cm tall. The leaves are ovate-round with serrated edges, dense rough hairs undersides and grow in pairs. It is dioecious. From March to May, female plants produce panicles 3 to 10 cm long in the leaf axils near the stem apex, while male plants produce male inflorescences 10 to 20 cm long in the leaf axils slightly lower down. The flowers are small, green and densely packed. It is classified as Near Threatened (NT) in the Ministry of the Environment's Red List.
