 ヨーロッパや北アメリカが原産です。海辺の砂浜や草地に生え、高さ
は１０〜１５センチになります。葉は針状線形で光沢のある濃緑色で
す。３月から５月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして球状花序をつけ、ピンク色の
小さな花を咲かせます。別名で「はまかんざし（浜簪）」とか「まつばか
んざし（松葉簪）」と呼ばれます。属名は、「海岸に（at seaside）」を意
味するケルト語の「ar mor」に因みます。
イソマツ科アルメリア属の多年草で、学名は Armeria vulgaris。
英名は Sea thrift, Sea pink。
Sea thrift belongs to Plumbaginaceae family. It is a perennial herb that is
native to Europe and North America. This herb occurs in coastal grass
lands, beach sands and can reach 10-15 cm in height. The leaves are
needle-linear, dark green and glossy. The spherical inflorescences are borne
on the stalks and bloom small pink flowers in March to May. The genus
name 'Armeria' is derived from Celtic language 'ar mor' (at seaside).
