わが国の本州から四国・九州をはじめ、北半球の温帯地域に広く分布しています。池や沼に生え、根茎は水底の泥の中を横に這います。葉は卵形か円形で長い柄があり、水面に浮かびます。６月から８月ごろ、葉腋から数個の花茎をだして、黄色い花を咲かせます。花冠は深く５裂しています。 |

ミツガシワ科アサザ属の水生多年草で、学名は Nymphoides peltata。英名は Water fringe、Yellow floating heart。 |

Water fringe (Nymphoides peltata) belongs to the Menyanthaceae family. It is an aquatic perennial herb that is distributed widely, from Honshu to Shikoku, Kyushu of Japan and the temperate areas of Northern Hemisphere. This herb grows in ponds and bogs, the rhizomes extend transversely in dredge soils. The several flowering stalks are borne in the axiles and bloom yellow flowers from June to August. The corolla is deep quintuple-lobate. |
