いわがさ (岩傘)

わが国の本州、近畿地方以西から四国、九州そして朝鮮半島、中国に分布しています。日当たりの良い石灰岩地の岩場などに自生しています。高さは１〜１．５メートルほどになります。４月から５月ごろ、新しい枝先に散房花序をつけ、白色の小さな花を咲かせます。和名は、岩場に生えて花序のかたちが傘に見えることから。 |

バラ科シモツケ属の落葉低木で、学名は Spiraea blumei。英名は Blume spirea。 |

The Blume spirea (Spiraea blumei) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed from the Kinki region of Honshu west to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula, and China. It grows naturally on limestone rocks in sunny locations and is 1 to 1.5 m tall. It produces small white flowers in corymbs at the tips of new branches from April to May. The Japanese name comes from the umbrella-like shape of the inflorescence, which grows in rocky areas. |
