 マレー半島からインドネシア、ニューギニアに分布しています。高さ
は２〜４．５メートルになり、葉は卵形で縁には鋸歯があり互生しま
す。葉腋から長さ３０〜５０センチの紐状の赤い花穂を下垂させま
す。花弁は退化してありません。
トウダイグサ科エノキグサ属の常緑低木で、学名は Acalypha
hispida。英名は Chenille plant, Pussy tail。
The Chenille plant (Acalypha hispida) belongs to Euphorbiaceae (the
Spurge family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed through the
Malay Peninsula, Indonesia, and New Guinea. This small tree can reach 2-
4.5 m in height. Leaves are ovate, alternate, and serrated. Red ribbon-
shaped inflorescences hang from the axils. Petals are absent because of
