The Casablanca lily (Lilium cv. Casablanca) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is one of Oriental hybrid lily. Cultivated lilies are broadly classified into several groups. The group including varieties like 'Casablanca', which have large flowers and a strong fragrance, is called the Oriental Hybrid group. These were developed in the Netherlands by crossing native Japanese species such as "Yama-yuri", "Kusa-yuri", and "Kanoko-yuri". Florists often remove the anthers to prevent pollen from staining, but this is an extremely unnatural practice that I find unacceptable.
