 アフリカのエチオピアが原産です。イエメンを経て、熱帯の各地に広
まりました。現在、世界中で飲まれているコーヒーの９０パーセント近
くが、このアラビカ種です。花は葉腋に集まって咲き、花冠は白から
黄色に変わります。また果実は楕円形で成熟するにしたがって、緑
色から赤、紫色へと変化します。また「きみのコーヒー（C. arabica cv.
Yellow cuturra）」と呼ばれる、果実が黄色に成熟するものもあります。
別名で、「アラビカコーヒー」とも呼ばれます。
アカネ科コーヒーノキ属の常緑小高木で、学名は Coffea arabica。
英名は Coffee。
Coffee belongs to Rubiaceae (Madder family). It is an evergreen semi-tall
tree that is native to Ethiopia, Noth Africa. This tree was extended to the
tropical areas via Yemen. Arabica coffee occupies about 90% of the world
cofee production. Flowers come on the axiles, white corollas turn to yellow
with aging. Fruits are elliptic, and ripen red to purple. Yellow cuturra is a
species with yellow fruits.
