がくあじさい (額紫陽花)

わが国の本州、関東地方から中部地方、伊豆諸島、小笠原諸島など暖帯の沿海地に分布しています。厚い広楕円形の葉は対生し、６月から７月ごろ、新しい枝先に散房花序をだし、中心部に両性花と周辺に中性花を咲かせます。中性花は装飾花とも呼ばれ、淡い紫色または白色です。園芸品種も数多く作出されています。写真中９〜中１１は、園芸品種の「ピンクシャワー（cv. Pink Shower）」。 |

アジサイ科アジサイ属の落葉低木、学名は Hydrangea macrophylla f. normalis。英名はありません。 |

"Gaku-ajisai" (Hydrangea macrophylla f. normalis) belongs to Hydrangeaceae (the Hydrangea family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed in the coastal areas of the warm temperate zone in Japan, including Kanto to Chubu regions of Honshu, the Izu Islands, and the Ogasawara Islands. The leaves are thick, broad elliptic and opposite. The corymbs are borne on the new branches, and the bisexual flowers at center and the neuter flowers at around the periphery bloom from June to July. The neuter flower is pale purple or white and also called ornamental flower. There are many cultivars. |
