 
 わが国の本州、奈良県以北から北海道、それに朝鮮半島や東シベ
リアに分布しています。葉の長楕円形で、２〜３個が根生します。全
体に「にら」に似た香りがあります。６月から７月ごろ、花茎を伸ばし
て球状花序に、淡い黄白色の花を咲かせます。若い葉と鱗茎は、山
菜として食用にされます。名前は、修行中の行者が活力源として食
用にしたことから。
ユリ科ネギ属の多年草で、学名は Allium victorialis ssp. platyphyllum。
英名はありません。
"Gyoja-ninniku" (Allium victorialis ssp. platyphyllum) belongs to Liliaceae
(the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from
Nara-prefecture of Honshu to Hokkaido, the Korean Penninsula and
eastern Siberia. The leaves are oblong and 2-3 basal. All parts of plants
have leek-like smell. The flower stalk is borne and the yellowish white
flowers bloom in the ball-shaped cluster from June to July. The young
leaves are bulbs are used for wild vegetable in spring.
