 わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道、それに千島列島からカ
ムチャッカ半島、サハリン、シベリア東部に分布しています。高山帯
の砂礫地に生え、高さは５〜１５センチになります。葉は羽状に細か
く分裂します。７月から８月ごろ、ピンク色または紅紫色の花を下向
きに咲かせます。花冠は左右相称で４弁あり、外側の２個は上半部
が反り返り、基部は膨らみます。名前は、花のかたちが馬の顔に似
ていることから。
ケマンソウ科コマクサ属の多年草で、学名は Dicentra peregrina。
英名はありません。
"Koma-kusa" (Dicentra peregrina) belongs to the Fumariaceae (the
Fumitory family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from
Chubu district of Honshu to Hokkaido, also the Kuril Islands, the
Kamchatska Peninsula, Sakhalin and eastern Siberia. This herb grows in
alpine screes, and can reach 5-15 cm in height. The leaves are finely
divided pinantely. The pink or magenta flowers bloom descending from
July to August. The corolla is bilaterally-symmetric and four-petaled. The
upper-half of outer two petals are recurved, and the base of them are
swollen. The Japanese name is derived that the shape of flower resembles
horse's head.
