まるばひいらぎ (丸葉柊) [Index] [Back] わが国の本州、関東地方以西から四国・九州、それに沖縄や台湾に分布している「ひいらぎ」の園芸品種です。葉は厚い革質の楕円形で、縁は全縁です。１１月から１２月ごろ、葉腋に芳香のある小さな白色の花を咲かせます。 モクセイ科モクセイ属の常緑小高木で、学名は Osmanthus heterophyllus cv. Rotundifolius。英名は Round leaf holly。 The round leaf holly (Osmanthus heterophyllus cv. Rotundifolius) belongs to Oleaceae (the Olive family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is a cultivar of "holly" (Osmanthus heterophyllus) which distributed from Kanto district of Honshu west to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, and Taiwan.
