'Miyama-hakobe' (Stellaria sessiliflora) belongs to Caryophyllaceae (Carnation family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from southwest Hokkaido to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu of Japan. This herb occurs in the wet places along montane dales and can reach 20-40 cm in height. The upper stem extends side-upward and has disticous hairs. The leaves are yellow-green, broad ovate and opposite. They have pubescent on the reverse side veins. This herb sends up peduncles from the axils, and bloom white flowers 1-1.5 cm in diameter from May to July. The petal is divided into 2 lobes, and looks like 10 petaled.
