 わが国の各地をはじめ、東アジアに広く分布しています。山野や林
縁に生え、他の樹木などに絡みついて伸びます。葉は卵形で互生
し、３〜５中裂します。６月から８月ごろ、葉の対生の位置に集散花
序をだし、小さな淡緑色の花を咲かせます。果実は球形の液果で、９
月から１０月ごろ、緑色から白色、紫色、青色と変化しながら熟しま
す。ほとんどの果実には「ブドウタマバエ」や「ブドウガリバチ」の幼虫
が寄生していて、食用にはなりません。
ブドウ科ノブドウ属の落葉木本で、学名は Ampelopsis
brevipedunculata var. heterophylla。英名は Porcelain berry。
Porcelain berry (Ampelopsis brevipedunculata var. heterophylla) belongs
to the Vitaceae (the Grape family). It is a deciduous shrub that is
distributed widely to Japan and East Asia. This shrub grows in fields,
mountains or forest edges and climb up adjacent trees. The leaves are
ovate, alternate and divided into 3-5 intermediate lobes. The cymes are
borne on the opposite side of leaves and produce small pale green flowers.
The fruits are round berries and ripen in September to October. The fruits
change their colors from green to white, purple, blue. The caterpillars of
some flies or bees are parasitic in the fruits.
