わが国の本州の一部、静岡・三重・熊本県と中国からヒマラヤに分布しています。わが国では、熊本県の小岱山（しょうたいさん）、三重県の伊勢神宮、静岡県湖西市の神座地区が群生地として知られています。卵形の葉は暗い緑色で、互生します。４月から５月ごろ、枝先から花柄をだして、淡いクリーム色の花を咲かせます。花弁は４個あり、３〜６個の小花がまとまってつきます。 |

マンサク科トキワマンサク属の常緑小高木で、学名は Loropetalum chinense。英名は Fringe flower、Evergreen witchhazel。 |

The Fringe flower (Loropetalum chinens) belongs to Hamamelidaceae (the Witch hazel family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is distributed Shizuoka, Mie and Kumamoto prefecture of Japan and China to the Himalayas. Famous colonies are known in Mt. Shotai (Kumamoto), Ise Shrine (Mie) and Kanza district (Shizuoka). Leaves are ovate, dark green and alternate. Pale creamy flowers come on the peduncles from April to May. Flowers have 4 petals and come 3-6 in a cluster. |
