 ヨーロッパからアジアが原産ですが、わが国でもわずかに長野県や
北海道に野生化しています。高さは２０〜５０センチになり、全体に軟
毛に被われています。葉は長楕円形から倒披針形で互生します。た
だ実際に園芸用としては「えぞむらさき（M. sylvatica)」や「アルペストリ
ス（M. alpestris）」との種間交雑種が流通しています。名前は、この花
を恋人のベルタに贈ろうとして、ドナウ川に落ちて亡くなった騎士ルド
ルフの物語に由来するそうです。春から夏にかけて、小さな青紫色
の花を咲かせます。
ムラサキ科ワスレナグサ属の多年草で、学名は Myosotis
scorpioides。英名は Water forget-me-not, Forget-me-not。
Water forget-me-not (Myosotis scorpioides) belongs to Boraginaceae (the
Borage family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Europe and Asia. It is
partially-naturalized in Japan, Nagano prefecture of Honshu and Hokkaido.
This herb can reach 20-50 cm in height, and all parts of plant are covered
with soft hairs. The leaves are oblong to oblanceolate and alternate. This
herbs are popular in gardens, though they are interspecific hybrids between
Myosotis sylvatica and Myosotis alpestris. "Forget-me-not" is derived from
the legend that in medieval times, a knight Rudolph and his lady love
Bertha. The small bluish purple flowers bloom from spring to summer.
